Coosa Valley Technologies (CVT) is a subsidiary of Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative, which has been serving our communities since 1939. In 2020, CVEC members approved the creation of CVT to bring high-speed broadband internet to members and residents of rural communities in Talladega, Calhoun, St. Clair and Shelby counties. Immediately following approval, our dedicated team began constructing an all fiber-optic network, prioritizing service to CVEC members first. By December 2021, the first customers were connected, benefiting from fast, reliable internet where options had been limited to cellular data and satellite.
Today, CVT serves over 8,100 customers across more than 615 miles of backbone fiber and 2,900 miles of network fiber that are supported by 17 strategically placed fiber huts. Our modern fiber network is built for the future by delivering consistently faster and more dependable service than older networks and bringing broadband to areas that had none before.
