Talladega, Ala. – November 17, 2025 — Lucas Browning, energy services representative at Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC), recently earned his Key Accounts certification from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. The certification recognizes Browning’s advanced training in supporting large commercial and industrial members.
“Lucas’ Key Accounts certification strengthens his already impressive skill set and enhances our cooperative’s ability to support the industries and businesses that drive our local economy,” said Jon Cullimore, CVEC general manager. “He consistently demonstrates professionalism, dedication, and a genuine commitment to serving our members. We are proud to have him on our team.”
To earn the Key Accounts certification, Browning had to take online courses and pass an exam as well as complete a business plan for key accounts and a member engagement plan. The certification equipped him with the knowledge to monitor and support energy use, coordinate reliability needs, support economic development, and resolve issues.
“This certification program builds on my ability to serve as a relationship manager, energy advisor, and problem-solver to our largest customers,” he said. “It has strengthened my understanding of how to anticipate their needs, communicate proactively, and help them make informed decisions that benefit their operations.”
In addition to his work with key accounts, Browning leads several member-focused programs that reflect the cooperative’s mission of service and innovation, including free energy audits for homes and businesses seeking to improve efficiency.
“I conduct the audit and analyze the results,” he said. “I then recommend improvements or efficiency upgrades to help our members save energy and reduce bills. It is rewarding to see the real financial difference these changes can make.”
Browning also administers CVEC’s All-Electric Plug-in Vehicle Registration Rebate Program, which provides a $100 rebate to member EV owners. In addition, he oversees the Manufactured Home Rebate Program, which offers incentives to members purchasing a new manufactured home with a heat pump or owners of existing manufactured homes who upgrade electric furnaces to high-efficiency heat pumps.
The Site-Built Home Rebate Program, for which he is also responsible, provides rebates to owners of site-built homes who install dual-fuel or mini-split heat pump systems.
“Heat pumps deliver outstanding efficiency because they move heat rather than create it,” Browning said. “They offer reliable comfort year-round while lowering energy use. Helping members transition to these systems is a great example of how we can improve comfort and reduce costs at the same time.”
Browning said his passion for the job comes from the members he serves.
“I love working directly with our members to solve problems, offer guidance, and help them understand their energy options,” he said. “I regularly have the opportunity to make someone’s life a little easier, and that’s what makes this work so meaningful.”
